Eta Pair Arrested Over Terrorism Offences

Two men have been arrested in connection with alleged terrorist offences in Spain.

At approximately 4am this morning, Friday, 29 June, two men, aged 39 and 55 years were arrested under Section 5 of the Extradition Act by detectives in an operation led by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command.

The men - both Spanish nationals and members of who are members of the Basque separatist group Eta, were arrested at a residential address in west London.

Today's operation was supported by officers from the Met's Extradition Unit and Firearms Unit.

Officers from the Counter Terrorism Command also executed two search warrants under the Terrorism Act 2000. One search at the premises where the men were arrested continues. A search at a separate residential address in west London has been completed. No weapons have been recovered.

The men have been taken to a central London police station where they remain in custody.

A 38-year-old woman was arrested at the same premises as the men for alleged fraud offences. She remains in police custody.

Two other men at the same premises were arrested for alleged immigration offences.

Today's arrests are not linked to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
