According to new research commissioned by eBay, newlyweds aged 18 to 34 are experiencing "bridal remorse," wishing they'd spent less on their wedding day. And who can blame them? After the florist, caterer, and venue have been booked, newlyweds are left with a massive wedding bill.
"Something borrowed and something blue outlast the wedding day," said Kimberly Moffit, a psychotherapist and eBay wedding counsellor. Once the wedding is over, many newlyweds are left feeling blue and needing to borrow to pay their bills. Couples want their big day to be special but the pressure to stage an elaborate wedding can be taxing emotionally and financially."
According to the survey, nearly one-in-four young couples believe they overspent on their wedding and many are looking for ways to get out of wedding debt. In fact, 13% of married couples aged 18 to 34 plan to sell their wedding items to recoup some of the money they spent.
