Earlier this month, it was claimed the couple had called time on their marriage after 38-year-old Van Outen was spotted on holiday alone, while Mead has been spending time filming in Hollywood for pilot season, but former Big Breakfast host said their busy work schedules were why they "haven't seen each other".
Speaking to Now, she admitted: "To be honest with you, it is really difficult. We just haven't seen each other. I started on Strictly in September and we have literally been like ships passing in the night. I'm not going to lie, it is a massive strain on the relationship."
The couple met while filming BBC talent show Any Dream Will Do in 2007. They married two years later and have one daughter together, two-year-old Betsy.
