It took less than 30 minutes for a jury to reject 17-year-old Nikola Cifrova's claims that she knew nothing about the scam.
Cifrova denied conspiracy to facilitate a breach of immigration laws between between 5 and 23 November 2012, despite a series of text messages indicating her involvement to, and from, the would-be groom found on her mobile phone.
Speaking at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, Judge Richard Twomlow told Ms Cifrova: "You have been found guilty on, it seems to me, to be overwhelming evidence."
Rachel Knight, prosecuting, said Cifrova is "sophisticated and intelligent", adding that the teenager was "deeply involved in this conspiracy."
The sham marriage, between Nigerian-born Ehimhandre Louis Esene, and Emilia Ginova – who was four months pregnant by Cifrova's brother – was due to take place at Pontypridd Register Office on 22 November 2012.
However, a registrar taking notification of their intent to marry, noticed the couple were unable to communicate and notified the UK Border Agency.
Officers from the UKBA were waiting at the office when the accused parties arrived at the venue.
During the trial, the court heard Esene had embarked on the marriage in an attempt to stay in the UK after his UK visa expired.
He was assisted in the scam by Marian Bardo and Michael Horvath, Cifrova's step-father, who, along with Ginova and Esene, admitted conspiracy to facilitate a breach of immigration law.
Marek Kricko, a 32-year-old father-of-three, who drove some of the group to South Wales from Kent, was found not guilty of conspiracy to facilitate a breach of immigration law. He had denied the charge.
All five defendants will be sentenced at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on 31 October.
