Thief Ransacks Couple's Home Over Wedding Invite Snub

A newlywed couple were devastated to learn their home had been ransacked as they tied the knot – by a distant family member who had not received an invite to their wedding.

According to the Express, Annwen and Jonathan Bell were sharing a dance at their wedding reception when police arrived to tell them their home had been burgled.

The man who committed the crime was caught and the couple were later shocked to learn they knew the accused.

The events surrounding the case were shared at Swansea Crown Court where 26-year-old Ceri Davies was jailed for three years, four months after admitting to burglary and criminal damage.

He denied that the break-in was a "spiteful" attack due to a family dispute, but it was revealed that a broken marriage involving Annwen's parents was behind it.

It is understood Annwen's father had walked out on his 30-year marriage to start a relationship with lodger Jill Davies, and Ceri is her son.

Around £5,000 of damage was caused in the break-in, and Annwen is quoted by the paper as saying: "The sofas had been slashed, all our TVs smashed, and sentimental ornaments broken into tiny pieces.

"Jonathan's laptop had been destroyed. I was heartbroken. We had gone from absolute bliss at our wedding to find our home had been wrecked out of spite."

She added that the couple, who spent two years planning their wedding, continued with their celebrations as they didn't want to ruin the day for their 200 guests.
