Speaking to The Sunday Times Magazine, the singer admitted he had used dating network Grindr, which is catered towards gay and bisexual men.
He said: "Of course I have been on Grindr! That's like asking have I ever been on Facebook. But you're not going to meet anyone worthwhile on those sites.
"What happens to me on those things is, 'Oh, are you Boy George?' Those kind of options aren't open to me."
The 52-year-old, who has previously said he has had relationships with singer Kirk Brandon, and former Culture Club drummer Jon Moss, added that he is a romantic at hear and would like a serious relationship.
"To a certain degree I prefer red roses and soft cotton sheets. It's just at the moment I'm not making any room for it," he shared.
