Michael Douglas Remains Hopeful For Marriage

Michael Douglas has said he remains "very hopeful" of a reconciliation with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The 69-year-old actor made the revelation as he made an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

He added that he believes they will be able to work through their marital problems and become a stronger couple.

When asked by host Leno if he was confident they would be okay, Douglas replied: "Good, I hope. I've been away for a while, but everything should hopefully be on the up and up.

"Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but [it] doesn't necessarily mean that's the end. So, I'm very hopeful."

The actor added that the couple's two children – 13-year-old Dylan and Carys, 10 – are "doing great".

Douglas and Zeta-Jones, 44, started dating in 1999 before tying the knot a year later at Manhattan's Plaza Hotel. In August, a representative for the Welsh actress confirmed the couple were "taking a break" after 13 years of marriage.
