Two-Thirds Of Women Try To Change Partner's Appearance

Two-thirds of women have admitted trying to transform their boyfriend's appearance.

The study, carried out by online retailer Littlewoods.com, found that women splash out on £500 worth of clothes, and a further six months of grooming and buffing on their partner to make them look more like their favourite male celebrity.

Some 36% said they were "embarrassed and ashamed" to be seen in public with their boyfriend at the start of their relationship. Breaking it down, 34% said they were concerned about his choice of clothes, 22% for their hair style and 9% even admitted their partner's smell was an issue.

As a result, 68% said they "improved" their other half's appearance, with 40% buying his clothes.

Looking at famous faces for inspiration, 22% of women try to transform their boyfriend into David Beckham. This is followed by Gary Barlow (19%), Dermot O'Leary (17%), Mark Wright (11%) and Justin Timberlake (9%).

Gary Kibble, from Littlewoods.com, is quoted in the Daily Mail as saying: "It definitely shows the high standards we set for ourselves and the expectations we have for our relationships."
