Ms Armstrong ended the couple's relationship and it is understood she made the decision after a photo of her ex emerged on Twitter. In it, he was topless and standing next to another woman.
In response however, Lock has said he did not cheat, but that he understood where Armstrong was coming from.
Speaking to the official TOWIE website, James said: "I'm really disappointed and upset. I want to be with Danielle. She means everything to me."
He added that he was frustrated because he wasn't given an opportunity to explain.
"She [Danielle] basically shot me down and gave me nowhere to go with it," he said. "She walked out and said, 'That's it'. She gave me no leverage to try to sort things out and she ain't listening to anything I say.
"I thought me and her was worth more... She's basically just thrown it all away because of these tweets. I just don't agree with it but it's up to her, isn't it?"
The couple's split was aired on TOWIE's latest episode on Wednesday night. Following the show, Lock took to Twitter to say: "You never know what you have until you lose it. You always know what you have, you just never think you'd lose it."
Meanwhile, Danielle tweeted: "Thank u all for your amazing tweets always makes me feel better reading them. Hope u all enjoyed tonight's @OnlyWayIsEssex #heartbroken."
