It is understood a solicitor for Michael Stockman, from Co L'derry in Northern Ireland, confirmed the news on Thursday. In January 2014, Mr Stockman was found guilty of theft. He took £800 from six of his customers before he was due to perform at their weddings or parties. However, in those instances, he failed to turn up, usually sending the victims a text message at short notice – such as the morning of the weddings.
Stockman, of Coleraine, who traded as North West Discos, had been found guilty of nine theft offences. He was due to face sentencing this week, the BBC reported, but when his solicitor told the court his client faced additional charges, the judge agreed to defer sentencing until September.
During his trial, the Trading Standards Authorities (TSA), revealed that Mr Stockman's excuse "for cancelling on four different occasions between the start of August 2012 and end of September that year was that his father had died the previous day or morning. Stockman continued to make bookings and take payments from his victims."
