Katie Piper has opened up about her struggle to find love.
Piper was left severely injured in an acid attack in 2008. The attack, which blinded Piper in one eye, was arranged by her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch, and carried out by an accomplice, Stefan Sylvestre. The young mum has undergone hundreds of operations since the incident to repair the damage carried out to her face and body.
Piper, 30, is now in a relationship with a man named James and the couple have a daughter together. However, the charity campaigner has admitted she struggled to find love before she met her partner.
In her new autobiography, which is due to be released next month, Piper said: "Often I'd get chatting to a guy and he would seem interested in everything I said. I'd get excited, feeling sure we'd really connected. The next day I'd be gutted when a text message arrived asking me to open his village fete or draw the raffle ticket at his work Christmas do."
She also shared an encounter of one date she went on where the man said he was going to "talk to some colleagues" – only for him to not return.
"I felt hot, sick and embarrassed all at the same time. I had to face the fact he'd left," she confessed. "Humiliation and nausea washed over me. My voice wobbled when I asked for the bill, my hands shook as I paid.
"The coward hadn't even had the decency to leave money with the waiter."
Piper and her boyfriend James have been in a relationship for two years. Last year, the couple confirmed they were expecting their first child together. Their daughter, Belle, was born in March.
