A spokesperson for the couple confirmed the wedding took place at a chateau in France on Saturday (23 August).
Last week, the pair were thought to have been holidaying in the south of France, but the couple also tied the knot in a small chapel. It is understood the wedding happened at Chateau Miraval, in the village of Correns, which the couple has rented since 2008. The couple had obtained a marriage licence from a local California judge, who then travelled to France to perform the ceremony.
Jolie and Pitt's six children also played a role in the big day, the spokesperson said, with eldest sons Maddox and Pax walking their mother down the aisle. Zahara and Vivienne threw petals, while Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers.
Pitt, 50, and Jolie, 39, first met in 2005 after starring in the film Mr and Mrs Smith together. They announced their engagement in April 2012.
They have six children together, Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, Vivienne and Knox, both six. Pitt was previously married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston, while Jolie was previously married to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.
