An insider told The Sun: "When she split from Lewis, she was heartbroken but ended up playing Ed's songs on a loop.
"As far as he's concerned they were in the early stages of dating and he's been open about it with close friends and colleagues."
Sources told the Mirror the pair split because of the 13-year age gap between them. Nicole is 37 and Ed is 24.
A source said: "They were never serious and it's old news now.
"The age gap was too big for them but they remain on good terms."
