Royal Wedding Dress Designer Wins Award

The woman who designed the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress has taken to the spotlight again after being named designer of the year by influential style magazine - Harper's Bazaar.

Sarah Burton, the Creative Director of fashion brand Alexander McQueen, nabbed the prestigious award last night at the Fashion magazine's Women of the Year Awards at Claridge's Hotel in London.


Burton’s award comes just days after the announcement that Kate Middleton had topped the coveted best dressed list.

The dress which Kate Middleton wore for her wedding to Prince William in April cemented her place as a fashion icon, while also making Miss Burton the most in-demand designer of the moment.

Since the spring wedding replicas of the wedding and bridesmaids dresses have hit the highstreet with department store Debenhams launching its own ‘Pippa Middleton style’ bridesmaid dresses.
