Was The Royal Wedding Policing Legal?

Four test cases have come before the High Court in London for a preliminary hearing over the legality of the policing of the royal wedding.

According to the Press Association, the Metropolitan Police are being accused of operating an unlawful policy of pre-emptively stopping, searching and arresting those who were viewed by officers as being likely to express "anti-monarchist" views.


It is being alleged the police acted without proper regard for the lawful pre-conditions for taking such action.

Some four test cases have come before the High Court in London for a preliminary hearing.

They involve individuals who were arrested on April 29, the day Prince William married Kate Middleton.

Lord Justice Elias and Mr Justice King are being asked to decide how the case should proceed to a full hearing.
