Ecclestone said that the cost of his daughter, Petra’s, wedding came in at around £12.5m and he claims this was without his knowing.
The racing car chief exec is worth in the region of £2.5bn and yesterday he gave rare insight into his billionaire lifestyle when he talked about the cost of the wedding during a German court trial.
He explained that he had no idea how much the wedding had cost until after the wedding as he had an argument with his ex wife, Slavica, over the money she was fronting for drinks – he said the drinks included Chateau Petrus wine at £4,000 a bottle.
He said although he had offered, as the father of the bride, to pay, he had fallen out with Mrs Ecclestone over the proposed cost and as a result, his ex-wife, who with a fortune of £750 million is one of the country’s wealthiest millionaires, ran up the huge bill without telling him.
Petra’s extravagant wedding in Italy included performances by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Black Eyed Peas.
At her wedding to James Stunt, an art dealer, Petra wore an £80,000 Vera Wang dress. The pair live in a £91million Los Angeles mansion which is reported to have 123 rooms.
This news however would not be surprising to those who know the family and especially the daughters who are famously extravagant.
Elder daughter Tamara is currently appearing in a reality television show named Billion $$ Girl and recently posed for pictures with a £70,000 shoe collection which included 100 pairs of Christian Louboutin heels. Her £45million home has a car turntable so that she does not need to reverse her Ferrari out of the driveway
