Shane Bauer, 29, and Sarah Shourd, 33, were hiking near the Iraq-Iran border with their friend Josh Fattal, 29, when they were arrested in 2009 after allegations of spying.
Mr Bauer asked for Ms Shourd's hand in marriage while they were in prison.
Ms Shourd was released after 14 months, Mr Bauer and Mr Fattal were held for two further years before being freed on bail in September.
Shane's mother told the Associated Press that the couple will marry on May 5.
