Xmas Proposals Questioned

A marriage therapist has warned couples not to rush Christmas engagements, according to www.wxyz.com.

“There are many people who get engaged around Christmas time because there’s lots of holiday romance,” Shirley Bavonese, a marriage therapist with the Relationship Institute in Ann Arbor, told the website.

Bavonese informed the news website that couples should take at least 6 months to a year after first meeting before proposing to allow them to fully understand each other and work through conflict.

Some couples "ignore the warning signs and take the plunge for a number of reasons", she commented to Action News. These include financial reasons, embarrassment or fear of being alone.
