Wedding Planning Stripped Back

Attitudes to wedding planning are changing and not just because of the current economic situation. Couples planning weddings are starting to be more creative and look for options beyond the ‘traditional’.

Markethill based make-up artist Stacey Kilpatrick of s.a.k.Designs is heavily involved with the Quirky Weddings movement.

Stacey said: "I love the fact that people are getting brave enough to break from the norm! It’s so exciting to work with couples who are planning something really special. It’s not that they are planning weird and wacky weddings, just that they are focusing on personal touches and elements that you might not see at other weddings. Things that reflect their true personality.

"I recently brought together other suppliers involved with the movement to work on a photoshoot. Quirky Weddings encourages stripping back the traditional wedding requirements and rethinking what the day could be like. I decided to work on a body painting that was literally a wedding dress stripped back. As you can see in the photo, some of the dress elements are there but the lace on the body has been painted on.

"Of course that’s much further than most brides will want to go on their wedding day but I get so excited meeting brides at their trial, chatting about their ideas and creating their makeup 'look' whether it be natural, vintage, quirky or dramatic. I’m exhibiting at the Quirky Weddings Alternative Wedding Fair in Belfast on February 19 and it’s always fun as the brides there are all looking for something a bit different."

For any couples looking for wedding planning ideas, the Quirky Weddings Alternative Wedding Fair is on February 19, 1-5pm in Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast.
