Google Shows It's Romantic Side

Google is celebrating this Valentine's Day 2012 with a cartoon featuring Tony Bennett singing Hank Williams' Cold, Cold Heart.

The simple but emotionally strong story shows a boy seeking the attention of a girl who is happily skipping oblivious to his advances.

The boy turns to the search engine for help. Flowers, chocolates, balloons even pulling a rabbit out of a hat fails to impress her.

Running out of inspiration the boy begins skipping with the girl and she finally begins to notice him.

Doodle animator Michael 'Lippy' Lipman, who created the cartoon with Google designer Willie Real, tells Comic Riffs: 'The animation alludes to that universality of love. These characters are archetypes, with no dialogue, so it can play around the world.

"That was every girl I met up until college. The little girl who couldn’t see the magic within [me] - she had many faces."
