Rise In Whirlwind Weddings At Ballymena Resort

A Northern Ireland wedding destination has tapped into the growing trend for short engagements.

Subject to demand the Galgorm Resort and Spa has created a package to cater for an increasing number of couples who are lessening the time between the proposal and ceremony.

Brief engagements are also proving popular amongst celebrity couples with one of the most famous betrothals of 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s, lasting less than six months before they exchanged vows at Westminster Abbey.

Eva Longoria has also recently declared that she doesn’t believe in long engagements saying, "People think engagement is another step. It's not another step. You're single and then you're married. The engagement is the planning party. So I always agree with short engagements."

Sales and Marketing Manager Beth Swindlehust is predicting that the Ballymena Resort's upcoming Bridal Open Day on Sunday 4th March will see a large uptake of the offer: "We are currently seeing an abundance of shorter engagements which reflect modern day courtship and mating trends. A lot of our wedding couples have been in a relationship, if not living together, for many years and a prolonged engagement seems pointless.

"With 2012 being a leap year, we are also expecting to welcome a few brides-to-be who have been the ones to pop the question and have been waiting a long time for the opportunity to do so. We’re keen to offer these brides a package that will lessen the wait-time between the proposal and ceremony."

The 'Whirlwind Romance' deal, designed for couples whose booking is made within 6 months of their wedding day, offers a complete wedding package priced from £7000 for 70 guests.

To celebrate the launch of the wedding package Galgorm Resort and Spa have announced a £10,000 Dream Wedding giveaway competition in association with their specialist partners. The competition will only be open to enter at the Bridal Open Day on Sunday 4th March between 1 -6 pm, and offers a complete Wedding Package that includes photography by the Award Winning Photographer Michael McKay, flowers by Sally’s Floral Studio, music by Arco String Quartet and Wedding Band ‘Curve,’ & Wedding Cake supplied by Heavenly Cakes and Favours, along with much more.
