Barclaycard Accidentally Print Dating Hotline Number

Barclaycard have apologised to late-paying customers after they were sent a letter containing the phone number of a dating hotline.

The warning letter telling them they had missed a monthly payment mistakenly urged them to phone an 0844 hotline.

Those who phoned the number where greeted with a pre-recorded message saying: "Welcome to Chat or Date! For Gay press 1 and for Straight press 2."

A firm spokesman said: "We'd like to apologise to our customers for any upset caused."

The correct number containing two different digits was also printed at the bottom of the letter.
