Jennifer Hudson To Wed Now Family Murder Trial Is Over

In 2008, singer and actress Jennifer Hudson's life was turned around completely when she lost three members of her family in a shooting.

Less than two weeks ago, her former brother-in-law William Balfour was convicted of the murders of her mother, brother and nephew, in a trial Miss Hudson attended from beginning to end.

Now that Mr Balfour is facing a life sentence, the Dreamgirls and American Idol star is hoping to find new happiness by tying the knot.

With the horror of the murders and the trial behind her, Miss Hudson is planning to marry her fiance of three years, David Otunga, in her home town of Chicago.

A source told the US magazine the National Enquirer that it was important to Miss Hudson that friends and family, including her son, be present at the ceremony.

The source said: "Jennifer feels she can now close the door on that terrible chapter in her life and start again by planning a wedding - and that her late mother would approve. She said she couldn't have a celebration like a wedding until there was a conclusion to the murder trial, so she put it off. David was supportive and agreed with her completely.

"Having the wedding in Chicago is important because that's her home and that's what her mom would've wanted. It's a private tribute from Jennifer to her mother."
