Men In Black Return To The Dating Scene

Men in black are going to be both in their element and at their ease in London during 2012 and that’s not just because of the new movie starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

London-based singles and dating membership club, Dinner Dates, is tackling one of the aspects of socialising that seems most alien to men, by solving the fashion dilemma of what a man should wear on a date.

Its solution to this is to give them the marvellous option of no choice, at a number of black tie balls organised for the coming months. It is effectively waving its equivalent of the Men in Black Neuralyzer memory stick and helping men forget about all the fashion crime disasters lurking in the wardrobe.

By creating a series of men-dressed-in-black nights out, it is simultaneously engineering a way of making a man’s orbiting of a room more effective, by allowing them to pander to the whims of the many women who cannot resist a man in a tux and bow tie.

Rather than reaching for a horrendous Hawaiian shirt, or a geeky golf jumper, men can get themselves kitted out in traditional black tie suit and dicky bow and wear it out on several Dinner Dates occasions throughout the year. Being dressed identically to every other man in the room not only increases confidence, but also puts all men on a level playing field, enabling their personality to do the talking, rather than their outfit.

Dinner Dates’ director, Cynthia Spillman, says her dating and socialising members club has realised over the last few years that the women’s woeful cry of ‘Does my bum look big in this?’ has been overtaken by the male paranoia of ‘Do I look a bum in this?’ Men are fretting far more than women about what to wear on a date, having had a world of fashion choice opened up for them in recent years, whether that is a neat, pink cardigan or an off-duty shirt.

“With women casting a more critical eye on male fashion, getting it wrong can be a dating disaster for a man and lead only to car crash conversations with the opposite sex”, says Cynthia. “By becoming a man in black this summer, men can actually gain confidence with their dating and concentrate on getting to know new people, rather than spending an evening wondering how their apparel is being judged”.

Playing it safe in black tie garb is made even easier by the fact that Bond will be back on the big screen this autumn, leaving women across the country both shaken and stirred by a man in a tux.
