Newcastle United midfielder Danny Guthrie's wife Rebecca Middleman, 23, was reportedly punched in the face after stepping-in when a guest attacked her dad on the dancefloor.
The 25-year-old soccer star and his bride were enjoying a £40,000 wedding at Allerton Castle near Harrogate, North Yorks, when the altercation occurred.
Police were said to have been called out three times during the festivities. They were first called to break up the 2am fight and then returned at 4.50am when locked-out guests tried to get back in. They were called for a final time when another row broke out as guests prepared to leave on a coach.
Rebecca denied there had been a fight, the Sun reports, however Guthrie tweeted that the brawl had been "made to look a whole lot worse".
A hotel source told the paper: “It was more Big Fat Gypsy Wedding than our usual clientele.”
The couple have a three-year-old daughter together.
