The Canadian pop star turned designer, 27, got engaged to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger last month.
At the launch of the spring collection of her Abbey Dawn clothing line last night, Avril answered questions about the dress for her big day.
She said: "Either it's something I'm going to design, or partner up with, collaborate with another designer. It might be something that I buy a few different dresses and rip them up and put them all together and dye them."
Avril was married for three years to Deryck Whibley, the frontman in Sum 41, and the couple continued to work together.
Her upcoming album, to be released early next year, features a track on which she collaborates with her fiancée Chad Kroeger.
