Diamond Jubilee Couples Renew Vows

More than 80 couples from across Hampshire have renewed their wedding vows as part of the the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Romsey Abbey hosted the ceremony for the pairs who have been married between 60 and 75 years.

The ceremony event also marked the Queen's 65th wedding anniversary.

The couples gave thanks for their long marriages and a message of goodwill from the Queen was read out during the service.

Vicar of Romsey, Rev Tim Sledge, told the BBC: "It started as a nice idea for the Diamond Jubilee and grew from there.

"One of the couples present will actually be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on the day having married at the abbey in 1952."
