The Hills star, 29, wed Heidi, 26, two years after the pair met in 2006.
He told Virgin Media: ''I never wanted to be loving or have a girlfriend or get married. Before I met Heidi I was very anti-marriage. I had been round so many awful women who had all the wrong motives. I was shocked when I met someone as good and pure-hearted as Heidi.
"The girls in Los Angeles were like the characters out of 'Mean Girls'. Heidi is from a town with a thousand people and no traffic lights. She grew up valuing deeper things.''
Heidi said: ''I had mostly brief relationships before Spencer. I always felt like the guy was more into me than I was into him. It was all a game to me until I met Spencer. He was from a different world. It just felt heavenly. I never knew I could be so intimately in love with a man. When I met him I told everyone I wanted to marry him. Everything about him is perfect.''
