The singer was taken to Dubai by her former rugby player boyfriend last week and a source said Kay was planning to propose on the trip.
Speaking to Closer magazine, the source said Katona said she "hopes to come back with more than just a tan".
They added: "Her friends were shocked when she hinted that she wanted to be pregnant by the time she comes back from her trip, but she just laughed, and said 'normal' has never been her thing."
Katona and Kay have been dating since November when the singer hired him to be her driver and minder.
The couple now live in a £3m mansion in Cheshire, with Kerry's four children.
The twice-divorced Katona is said to be "smitten" with her beau, who was released from jail last year after receiving a six-year sentence for two counts of blackmail.
