Speculation about the pair's relationship has been highlighted for several weeks. Last month, Woods sent his private Jet to fly Vonn to her home in Vail, Colorado after a crash at the Alpine World Championships in Austria left the skier with torn ligaments in her right knee and a fractured shin.
Woods was previously married to Swedish model Elin Nordegren, but the couple divorced in 2010 after the former world number one golfer revealed a series of extramarital affairs.
The 37-year-old has been concentrating on re-establishing his golf career since the split.
Writing on his Facebook page, Woods said: "Something nice that's happened off the course was meeting Lindsey Vonn. Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating."
On her own social networking page, Ms Vonn wrote: "I guess it wasn't a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods. Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy."
Vonn announced her split from husband of four years, Thomas Vonn, in November 2011.
