The $500,000 diamond engagement ring, which was designed by Pitt in collaboration with jeweller Robert Procop, was replaced with a simple gold band ring.
Speculation began over the couple's new status after rumours of an upcoming wedding have been mentioned lately. However, Jolie confirmed the couple were not married once she arrived at LAX airport.
When asked by TMZ if she was married, the mum-of-six answered with a simple "no".
Pitt and Jolie met on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005, when the couple were alleged to have started an affair when Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston.
Aniston filed for divorce in March 2005, and it was finalised in October that same year.
In January 2006, Jolie confirmed she was pregnant with Pitt's child. After seven years together, the couple announced their engagement in April 2012.
