Little Mix singer, Perrie Edwards, has revealed why her relationship with Zayn Malik has stayed strong.
Speaking to Twist magazine, the 19-year-old admitted it was because of their friendship.
She said: "Zayn is so lovely. You know things are good when you can't wait to see the other person. It's a sense of friendship.
"The main thing I looked for is if he's fun to be around, if I can have a laugh with him. When it's more of a friendship, it can blossom."
Ms Edwards has been dating One Direction member Zayn Malik since 2012. The pair met after One Direction performed on The X Factor when Edwards was a contestant.
However, the couples relationship was strained earlier this year when 20-year-old Malik was alleged to have cheated on his girlfriend.
The claims were never confirmed or denied, but Edwards stressed Malik treats her better than her previous boyfriends.
"I'd been on a few dates in the past with other boyfriends that didn't go well," she admitted. "I'd had loads of dating disasters! Zayn would never leave me with the bill like the other boys used to do!"
