The 38-year-old made the revelation in an interview with In Touch magazine.
She explained: "I got a wonderful little goatee, and it was red! I also got hyperpigmentation on my cheeks."
The former child star gave birth to her first child last year and was talking to the magazine about the changes she experienced as a mum-to-be.
She also added that she hasn't been focusing on returning to the shape or size she was before the birth.
She said: "I'd rather kill myself than get into a bikini right now! I take care of myself, but I'm never going to be the person who talks about diet and exercise. I would fail that conversation!"
Barrymore, who is married to art consultant Will Kopelman, gave birth to their first child, Olive, in September 2012. The couple began dating in early 2011, announcing their engagement in January 2012. They married in California last June.
