According to HollywoodLife, a source said the actor was "taking his time" with the relationship after the couple were rumoured to have hit trouble.
A source told the publication: "They've both been getting pressured by their management teams to hold off on the wedding, but it was Liam that gave in first and admitted that they should wait.
"He didn't call it off or anything, he just wanted to take some more time but I guess some people might call that cold feet. He's trying to do the mature thing, but Miley didn't take it well, she's been very upset and angry with him ever since which has only made them fight more."
Recently, family members of both Hemsworth and Cyrus have cast doubts on whether the pair will make it down the aisle. Earlier this month, Billy Ray Cyrus was asked about his daughter's upcoming wedding, and the singer admitted he didn't know if the ceremony would go ahead.
He explained: "They're young, they're kids, the great news is they’re great friends, they're really good friends.
"I play it by ear, I know whatever's meant to be that's the way it's going to happen."
Hemsworth proposed to Cyrus last year, after three years of dating.
