According to Hollywood Life, the source dismissed any rumours that the actress was not with the 42-year-old director.
Last year, Sanders and 23-year-old Stewart were forced to reveal they had been having an affair after they were spotted kissing.
On Tuesday, the actress was seen getting into a black vehicle, with a 'mystery man' behind the wheel, leading many to speculate that it was her former flame.
However, friends said the man was just a valet for the restaurant Stewart and some of her friends had been dining at earlier in the evening.
Speaking to the Metro, the source said: "That man is a driver, a valet driver.
"After he drove the car to the front of the parking area, he got out and the two young women in the photo got into the car.
"That young girl wearing glasses, Kristen Stewart, got into the passenger's side. She is a regular here and very friendly."
Stewart confessed to cheating on her boyfriend Robert Pattinson last summer. The couple split up following the revelation, but have been rumoured to have recently reunited. Sander's model wife, Liberty Ross, with who he has two kids, has since filed for divorce.
