The couple, who were first reported to be dating in June last year, are said to have recently rekindled their romance, according to The Sun.
It was reported the pair had ended their relationship in January after the bisexual actress left him for French model, Marie de Villepin.
However, Depp and Heard were subsequently spotted holding hands earlier this week in LA, prompting rumours that they were back together.
A source close the couple said the couple were even now planning their future together.
They said: "Johnny's told Amber he wants to marry her and have children after introducing her to his kids Lily Rose and Jack.
"He's bought her another horse so the one he got her last year can breed. Johnny's told her he is so in love with her that he wants to marry her one day."
They added: "She's smitten with him but won't take any nonsense. She wants him to calm the late nights and whisky drinking before they plan a wedding.
"They're going to stay with the kids at his house in Plan de la Tour in the south of France, so it's full of steam ahead again."
The couple met on the set of The Rum Diary and the pair were said to have started a relationship after Depp split from longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis.
