Town Helps Organise Wedding For Former Marine

A town in California has helped organise a wedding for a Marine and his bride, The TODAY Show has said.

Former Marine Corporal Juan Dominguez lost both his legs and his right arm from an improvised explosive device (IED) in Afghanistan. On his return home, the 29-year-old met his bride-to-be Alexis as an outpatient at the US Naval Medical Centre in San Diego.

At the time, Dominguez revealed: "I thought she was cute, so I kind of dumped my girlfriend at the time and asked her out."

Shortly after, he took his new girlfriend to Washington DC for the Marine Corps marathon. The couple then attended the Marine Corps Ball in the small town of Temecula before deciding to relocate to the town.

After being hailed as a local hero, Dominguez and his partner were given a smart home, courtesy of raised funds from The Gary Sinise Foundation. When it came to the couple planning their wedding, the residents once again came together to help the young couple.

Bill Wilson, who owns a local winery, donated the venue, food and wine, while Jennifer Molloy, who runs an event planning firm, also helped.

Following the wedding, the couple were treated to a honeymoon in Bora Bora.

They now plan to enrol in school, with Alexis hopes to study illustration and crafts while Juan would like to pursue a career in music.
