According to The Sun, the couple, who began dating last November, have not been seen together for more than a month.
It is thought the former X Factor judge and Simpson have told their friends that the relationship had 'cooled'.
Tulisa was not at St James' Park on Sunday to see her boyfriend's last game for Newcastle, and when the team spent the night partying at Tup Tup Palace in the city, the defender posed for photographs with a female fan.
Speaking to the newspaper, a source claimed: "Danny and Tulisa's relationship became public very quickly and was very full-on. They've had a lot of stress and it has caused a few bust-ups. They still talk but aren't together at the moment."
Agents for the pair, who got matching his and her tattoos last month, have denied the claims that they have split, stating the rumours as "categorically untrue".
