According to the Daily Mail, the research – which was carried out by health company Phillips AVENT – looked at 1,000 new mothers and mothers-to-be and discovered that four in five worried that they are not dressing well enough.
Women in Bristol were found to invest the most in looking their best as they spend £302 on clothing and maternity wear, compared to mothers in Nottingham to only spend an average of £184.
Most of those surveyed were more apprehensive about suffering stretch marks and changes to their bodies than the cost of raising their child, while breast feeding and the effects on their relationship were not a major worry.
Many women were also found to embrace their pregnancy shape, with more than half sharing photos of their expanding baby bumps on Facebook.
When looking at celebrity mums-to-be, Kim Kardashian and the Duchess of Cambridge were two celebrities mum's followed.
