According to www.cupid.com, it is thought this is down to the responsibility having a child has given them.
Almost eight in 10 men said being a father had taught them responsibility, unconditional love and patience, with 92% said they felt becoming a parent has made them a better partner.
Single dads were also a lot more willing to want a long-term relationship with 57% saying that being a parent made them want a steady relationship. When it came to relationships, 21% even admitted that they would consult their child for an opinion before their date.
They also have a protective streak as almost two thirds of men said they would keep their date quiet and not tell their children, more likely to see if the relationship could go anywhere before they introduce them to their kids.
Men who had daughters revealed it made them more aware of how they treat women, with 71% adding they want to show their daughter how they should be treated by a man. When it comes to sons, 86% said they want to set a good example to their boy when it comes to how to treat women.
Despite wanting to know who their daughter is dating, other fathers said they would mind their own business when it came to their son's love life.
Sean Wood, Communications Director at Cupid Plc, who conducted the research, said: "Dating can be difficult for single parents but, as our survey shows, being a parent can bring some advantages too!
"As anyone who is a parent will know, having children teaches you some valuable lessons in life, and this knowledge can be used to help build and happy and long lasting relationship."
