Men Are 'Skimping' On First Dates

A new study has found that men are 'skimping' on first dates, leaving women unimpressed.

The research, which was conducted by VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, found that while women prefer an evening out with no expense spared, men are happier to settle down on the couch with a pizza.

According to the men surveyed, they feel the 'perfect' first date would cost £30 and involve watching a DVD on the sofa. This, however, is a drastic difference from women who expect their partner to spend at least £100 on the first date as they are wined and dined.

To add insult to injury for many women, men confessed that they expected their partner to pay for half of the date. Women, on the other hand, felt men should pay entirely.

A further two-thirds of women said they would offer to split the bill out of politeness, but would never actually expect a man to accept.

George Charles of VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, said: "This study brings forward some very interesting points on the difference between men and women and what they think a first date should cost, as well as how they would define what makes a perfect date in 2013.

"We may be living in a time of economic struggles, but with 40% of men suggesting women should pay half the cost of a couple of pizzas and DVDs, one could perhaps question whether the tradition of male chivalry is dead!"
