However, a new survey has revealed that 27% of Britons actually prefer this night out more than their actual wedding day.
According to Airkix, who conducted the research and hosts the UK's first purpose-built wind tunnel, found that newlyweds feel the time they spend with their friends prior to their big day to be the most enjoyable part of the wedding experience.
Of those polled, 73% of men and women said that doing something that is vastly different from their normal routine is what makes a Hen or Stag night fun.
As a result, it is probably not surprising to discover only 6% wanted to have a joint hen and stag do with their partner.
While most couples want to stay away from their life partner for one final night, both males and females said eating and drinking was a key component of their night, as well as taking in an event, such as a football match or going to a concert.
Simon Ward, CEO of Airkix, said: "These results show the hen or stag party is still very much part of a traditional wedding preparation, but that more people are looking to do something a little out of the ordinary.
"We welcome many hen and stags through our doors and have recently witnessed a rise in groups looking for a shared fun experience which is a little more memorable that just the usual food and drink based celebration."
