Ed Sheeran has admitted he has made a marriage pact with his friend.
Speaking to MTV, the 22-year-old singer said he made the pact with his neighbour that they will marry each other if they are both still single by the time they reach the age of 40.
Sheeran said the idea for the pact came around after they watched a television show when four of the main characters made similar promises. The singer was addressing rumours that he had made a marriage pact with singer Taylor Swift if they were both still single by the age of 30.
Sheeran, who is currently supporting Swift on her 'Red' tour, said: "I don't know where that [rumour] comes from, it's usually from a source and it's usually from someone who doesn't know the person.
However, he then added that he had made a similar deal with someone else.
He said: "I do have one of those pacts with a friend actually - my next door neighbour but it's [for when we're] 40.
"We got the pact from 'Friends'. We watched 'Friends' and we were like 'oh that sounds like a good idea' but I don't really want to reproduce with you right now."
The singer has been romantically linked to Swift for a number of months. Despite strongly denying the allegations, Sheeran said the rumours made him feel "like a stud".
He explained: "My mates believed it. And my mates are texting me being like, 'Is it true?' so I said it wasn't but the fact that people can believe it makes me feel like a bit of a stud, you know?
"I've got to be honest because one of my best friends did date her. I'm not that kind of guy. But the fact that people believed it impressed me a little bit."
