The 37-year-old was four months pregnant when she lost her baby, she told OK! magazine.
Wareing, who is to due to leave the soap shortly, initially thought her pregnancy would affect her job. She said: "It was supposed to be a year, but I was pregnant when I started on EastEnders – I thought I was going to lose the job. They said no I wasn't, and I was going to do six months, then I had a miscarriage on set."
The actress, whose on-screen character Kirsty Branning pretended to be pregnant in order to stop her partner from leaving her, added that the cast and crew of the show were supportive in the wake of the tragedy.
She explained: "It's been hard, especially at four months when you've got the baby scan picture and everything's fine. EastEnders were very supportive during that time.
"They were worried when they told me they wanted me to do a fake pregnancy and I said, 'Don't worry, it's totally different'."
She continued: "I tried to separate work from my personal life."
Kierston stayed silent about the identity of the baby's father, however, saying: "He's still around but I don't really want to talk about it."

EastEnders actress Kierston Wareing has revealed she suffered a miscarriage while working on the BBC show.The 37-year-old was four months pregnant when she lost her baby, she told OK! magazine.
