Hardwick, 37, proposed to her girlfriend Rosie Nicholl while the pair were on holiday in Gran Canaria over the Christmas period.
Confirming the news during an interview with BBC Radio Leeds, Hardwick said: "We were in Gran Canaria on holiday and it was about 9.30 at night and I got down on one knee.
"I'd had the ring for over a year... I was very nervous."
She also admitted she had planned to propose on Christmas Day, but the plan was postponed after her partner's sister revealed she had become engaged on the same day.
She explained: "I was going to do it on Christmas morning, but then we got a phone call from Rosie's younger sister saying, 'Guess what, I'm engaged!' I thought, 'Oh, that's done that then!'"
