Watson, who separated from her long-term partner Will Adamowicz last year, was recently said to be dating Oxford University student Matthew Janney. The pair were later spotted together on a holiday to the Caribbean.
It is understood the 23-year-old Harry Potter actress and Janney, 21, met through mutual friends and the student's family are "thrilled" at the couple's relationship.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, Coralie and James Day, who are Janney's unofficial guardians after he lost both of his parents to cancer, said they heard about the couple's relationship two weeks ago.
They said: "We are thrilled to bits that he is seeing Emma Watson. We are looking forward to meeting her soon.
"Hats off to her for finding such a wonderful young man. There is nothing bad anyone could say about Matt. He is absolutely lovely. After Matt's mum died I became his second mother. I took him up to Oxford when he started there. I am very proud of him," Coralie added.
