The couple, who announced their engagement last year, were said to be looking at the grand venue for their upcoming nuptials when they were spotted in France recently. However, while they had visited the Palace, the venue's official Twitter account issued a statement which said the pair are "not planning their wedding at the Palace".
It is also being reported that despite being given an advanced warning that they could not marry at the venue, the couple chose to visit in the hope that the officials would change their mind.
According to Radar Online, a source claimed: "[A] wedding/reception wouldn't take place at Versailles. It would just have been too intrusive for visitors to the Palace, and the staff.
"Kim and Kanye really wanted to get married at Versailles and were both hoping to persuade officials during their visit…ultimately it backfired. It was still a firm no."
They added: "Kim and Kanye will now be scouting private estates and chateaus in the region. Working with an estate manager would be much easier than dealing with all of the red tape of having a wedding at a public venue.
"The couple is looking for something grand, but something that can offer privacy and security."
