According to the BBC, the female shopper alerted security staff at the Intu Lakeside Shopping Centre, Essex, after her waters broke.
The staff called for an ambulance, but the woman gave birth before it arrived on the scene. She was screened off from other shoppers as she delivered her baby girl.
Regional Manager of Intu, Paul Lancaster, said the woman had been in was now "doing well".
He is quoted as saying: "In 23 years we've never had a birth at the site. Plenty of ladies have broken water and gone off to hospital and no doubt a couple of babies have been conceived here.
"It all happened rather quickly before the ambulance could get there. They responded really quickly.
"We didn't think it was immediately going to happen but the baby was born on the spot."

A woman has given birth outside a Primark store in England after suddenly going into labour.According to the BBC, the female shopper alerted security staff at the Intu Lakeside Shopping Centre, Essex, after her waters broke.
