The couple, who welcomed their first child together earlier this month, revealed the news in an interview with OK! magazine.
When asked about the moment Andre, 40, got down on one knee to propose, Ms MacDonagh said: "It was such a shock. He always said he'd like to do it before the baby was born and I just thought he'd do it after – I was happy, I didn't need a ring, but it was amazing."
Her fiancé added: "She said: 'Are you serious?' and burst into tears – it was so emotional. We lay down in the nursery for ages because it was such a special room to us."
Andre and MacDonagh, 23, have been in a relationship since July 2010. While Andre is already a father to Junior, eight, and six-year-old Princess from his former marriage to Katie Price, this was Emily's first child and she admitted she was proud to make it through the delivery.
The trainee doctor said: "I'm proud of myself for getting through it. I pulled a lot of Pete's hair out, but he's got enough to spare.
"I was so happy she was healthy, it was amazing. I was looking at her perfect form and little fingernails. I kept thinking, how did we make that?"
Andre confessed he was also proud of his wife-to-be, saying: "I'd never seen anything like it, I was crying the whole way through the labour.
"As soon as I saw her I was a mess and crying like a baby. It was such a beautiful experience."
