Modern-day fathers now spend an average of 22 hours and 30 minutes a week looking after their children, a new study has claimed.
This amounts to more than three hours a day for fathers who take a more 'hands-on' approach when it comes to their offspring.
The study, which was carried out by Jacamo, also discovered that in addition to babysitting, a number of dads also cook, clean and do the school run. In fact, 92% of father's claim they share the family chores with their partner.
While 64% said this approach was just part of their role as being a modern parent, 37% now regularly carry out the school run, with the same number preparing their children's packed lunches. And when it comes to household chores, 57% claim they do the big weekly shop, 52% cook for their family and 54% do the cleaning. A further 54% are responsible for the laundry and washing up.
Of the men who took part in the poll, a third said they are happy to be in sole charge of looking after their children, while 4% said they never look after their kids on their own.
It isn't all bad for dads though, as 45% said they find being more hands on in their children's lives "rewarding", with 46% saying it is "good fun". Some 11% of men even went as far as to call themselves house husbands, with 57% keen to be viewed as co-parents.
The figures directly contrast between this generation and the previous generation of fathers, with 75% saying the way they parent their child is very different to how their own father approached family life.
Martin Roberts, spokesperson for Jacamo, said: "Families and men's roles within them have changed over the last 30 years.
"Partners of either gender are now much more willing to work together and mix work and home life.
"For the majority of British men, being a good dad and partner is a priority and spending time with their children is a must.
"As well as the 'fun bits' they're pitching in to take care of the everyday tasks too - and finding themselves much happier for it."
